Mine Plan­ning – Attain­ment and Adherence

The chal­lenge

Plan Attain­ment tells us how many of our planned tons were mined. Plan Adher­ence tells us if those tons were mined from the cor­rect loca­tion. Min­ing in the cor­rect loca­tion allows the Process Plant to max­i­mize the recov­ery of gold. It also reduces unnec­es­sary equip­ment move­ment in the pits and keeps our Drills, Doz­ers, Load­ers and Haul Trucks syn­chro­nized. Elim­i­nat­ing unplanned equip­ment move­ments also cre­ates a safer work­ing environment.

 

The IAMALLIN Team cre­at­ed an Oppor­tu­ni­ty Matrix to define and rank rea­sons for vari­ance such as equip­ment down­time and how we man­age water in the pits due to the heavy rain­fall in Suri­name. More than a dozen rea­sons for vari­ance were ranked based on the impact to mov­ing tons and pro­duc­ing gold ounces.

 

These chal­lenges are top­ics of focus in our dai­ly lead­er­ship meet­ings and shared in our shift line­out meet­ings. Mem­bers of Plan­ning, Oper­a­tions, and Main­te­nance are now con­duct­ing week­ly trips through the pits, work­ing as one team, to ensure we man­age our chal­lenges as soon as pos­si­ble and to esca­late deci­sions if needed.
